The Blinds

We have had very few issues with our Aliner, but, for some unknown reason, the blind that covers our rear window failed to stay open almost immediately. (Nothing at all has gone wrong with the front blind. Go figure!)

We love the light in our Aliner, and we virtually always camp in shade, so we want that shade to be up most of the time.

blind at the upper right. A white PVC pole is set into the
side of the window frame, holding the blind open.

This was in no way worth a three-week long stay at a dealer for a comprehensive fix, so I looked for alternatives, and the fix was very simple.

I cut two thin PVC rods to size, and inserted vinyl stoppers in each end. Thicker pipes won´t work; there´s not enough clearance between the edge of the blind and the bubble window.

black vinyl stoppers at each end.

They fit against the bubble frame, and hold the blind up unobtrusively. If you make this mod, you will want to set the rods in place carefully — they will fit and stay only if placed correctly, and you don´t want to damage the blind. But they will fit against the lower edge of the blind perfectly, resting on the metal edge, and sit well in the side sections of the bubble frame.
